I am passionate to see how the tools we use build on your emotional awareness and connection to your mind and body. Nearly five years into clinical work I continue to grow and become more passionate about the work I
do with people. My clinical expertise includes assisting people with navigating cultural and systemic
oppression, exploring their racial identity, exploration of gender identity, and LGBTQ issues. I also
specialize in addressing a myriad of anxieties, often socio-economic anxiety, as well as general

their support systems and other resources available to them. It is important to me for people to be
fully autonomous people who can advocate for themselves within systems that may not be made for
them through the work of liberation.
That work also shows up when I work with individuals who are experiencing depression, working

vulnerability and passion in my work with people that I hope allows them to connect more with
themselves and feel empowered.

Hello! Therapy can be an intimidating step sometimes, but I’m so proud of you for prioritizing your health and taking this next step.
I started my career as a school counselor before transitioning over to private practice. I made the switch so that I could spend more time working with the client on the goals at hand, and to develop the therapeutic relationship. My goal is for all clients to feel safe and comfortable. I strive to create a space that is led by compassion, understanding and inclusion. You can also expect an environment that is free of judgement, or shame, where diversity is celebrated. Coming from the school setting, I have extensive experience working with children and young adults, but am looking forward to working with all populations. I have experience supporting individuals through anxiety, OCD, depression, self esteem/ self confidence and relationship troubles.
The modalities I pull most from are:
I understand therapy can be an intimidating and challenging process. I approach each client with empathy and a safe space without judgement where clients can make positive changes and foster growth. I strive to make sure clients feel heard, valued, and empowered. With the right support, validation, and encouragement, we all have the capacity to change and create a life filled with happiness and fulfillment. Part of being human means experiencing both joy and pain. I encourage the exploration of both the positive and the painful parts of our lives while working together to actively problem-solve and find solutions to life’s challenges.
Together, we can construct individualized, realistic goals for therapy that empower clients through self-awareness and the development of healthy and adaptive life skills.
My experience consists of working with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. I specialize in working with people experiencing mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma, periods of transition, and issues of self-esteem/self-worth.

One of my favorite reminders is that progress is not linear. The therapeutic process does not require definitive structure to enable growth. Whether you are currently going through a difficult time or have decided you want to make some changes but aren’t sure where to begin, we will work together to find answers at a pace that feels right and comfortable to you. My goal is to help you understand your stressors, increase your self-awareness, enhance your coping skills, and recognize your own strengths.
I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

At the deepest core of my being and the surface of my entity, I wholeheartedly believe that every human is worthy of dignity and respect. Therapy can seem very daunting and intimidating which is why my approach involves building rapport and ensuring both physical and mental safety during sessions. I’ve learned through practice that therapy is not a relationship where a client talks about their problems and the therapist tells them how to solve them. Therapy is a collaborative approach where the therapist walks along side the client, identifies problems and assists the client in reaching their desired outcome and solution.
In addition to fostering a safe space for clients and encouraging collaboration, I also love to meet clients where they are, providing a safe and nonjudgmental space where they can be their most authentic selves. I work with clients of all ages.
Here are some clinical treatment modalities that I like to utilize:

As a therapist, my goal is to help every individual work towards honoring their authentic selves through integrating self-compassion, identifying existing strengths, creating positive support systems, and building the tools needed to create positive change in one’s life. I truly believe the client-counselor relationship is crucial to treatment success, and expressing empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard at all times, is of utmost importance to me. I recognize that each therapy journey is unique, and I am honored to meet you wherever you are in that journey.

At the core of my practice is the belief that relationships and connection light the path to healing. As a social worker, I strive to hold the complexities that surround us and how that can manifest, for better or worse, in our lives. I believe therapy is a collaborative process where we can sift through “the stuff” together and work to identify your goals and values. Therapy isn’t always about feeling good but creating a safe space for you to feel. Allowing yourself space to feel is a powerful and revolutionary action in today’s world. As a queer clinician, I feel that is imperative that therapy be affirming of all our identities and that I practice with cultural and racial humility.
I am a trained school social worker who loves working with children/families and adults of all ages as they manage the challenges of coming up in today’s world. My clinical interests include; trauma-informed/healing-centered care, support navigating schools and large institutions, child/family therapy, young adults, life transitions, pregnancy, and parenthood. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches in my practice including psychodynamic frameworks, the science of learning and development, behavioral therapy (CBT, ACT), mindfulness, creative arts, and trauma-informed care. Before my training as a social worker, I studied painting, photography, and creative writing and hold a Bachelors in Fine Arts.

Meet Katie, who has been adding her expertise to AMK for nearly a year now! For Katie, happiness is synonymous with moments spent with her family.
When it comes to coffee, Katie enjoys a delightful Caramel Almond Iced Coffee, adding a touch of sweetness to her workday routine.
Outside of work, Katie is eager to rekindle her connection with literature, aiming to revive her reading habits in the evenings.
Meet Kristie, an invaluable member of the billing department for the last two years! Coffee? A vanilla latte for a special occasion but on a standard day, she opts for black with almond milk at home.
Kristie’s cinematic heart has a soft spot for anything Disney and Pixar. Yet, her ultimate joy lies in spontaneous moments with her kids, especially when cuddled on the couch, sharing a good book aloud.
Outside of work, Kristie finds joy in singing, dancing and baking…and is extra happy when she can seamlessly combine all three!
Meet Mary, our Director of Billing who has been with AMK for 4 years. Her happiest moments are found spending time with family or heading to the movies…romantic comedies hold a special place in her heart.
In terms of beverages, Mary doesn’t lean towards coffee or tea. Surprisingly, she’s never set foot in a Starbucks, despite her grandkids’ enthusiastic endorsement of their cake pops.
Mary is your go-to in regards to billing, she is patient and understands that there can be a lot of questions when it comes to insurance, finances, billing, etc. She is here to help! Apart from her financial expertise, Mary is an avid animal lover, cherishing all creatures big and small. She loves all furry friends and even rescued a parakeet from her backyard last summer!
We accept insurance and provide clear billing. AMK Counseling is in-network with BCBS PPO and can submit out of network claims for most other insurance plans. Our initial phone consultation is complementary, and our per-hour rate is $150-$225 depending on the therapist.
