Bohao Zhang, M.ED, LPC
As a therapist, I want to provide a space for my clients to be heard and supported, particularly those within male and Asian-American communities. I was inspired to become a therapist after witnessing the mental health disparities during the Covid-19 pandemic. My prior STEM background further enhances my clinical abilities to identify underlying issues, develop actionable solutions, and understand the nuanced experiences of my clients. As a solution-focused counselor, I have supported clients with diverse identities and presenting concerns across the lifespan. I work with all ages.
My specialty areas include navigating life transitions, managing anxiety and depression, understanding self and others, and exploring immigrant/second-generation identities. My goal is to assist clients in navigating their current concerns to reclaim both excellence and fulfillment in their lives.
In sessions, I strive to create a collaborative environment where clients and I can engage in meaningful conversations that foster positive growth. My past clients have often described their counseling experience with me as encouraging, enriching, and empowering. As a Chinese-American, I provide therapeutic services in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
Depending on my clients’ experiences and values, I draw upon various clinical approaches including:
- Strength-Based Therapy
- Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
- Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy
- Narrative Therapy
- Play Therapy
Outside of clinical work, you may find me experimenting with fusion recipes, training for triathlons (with Ironman aspirations), and sharing the funniest memes #Balance
